Child Parent
Relationship Therapy (CPRT)

Strengthening Connection & Trust

Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT)

Parenting can be harder than expected. Big feelings, power struggles, and stress at home can leave parents feeling overwhelmed. You are not alone, and support is available.

Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) is a supportive program for parents of young children ages 3–10. It helps parents build stronger connection, trust, and confidence through practical skills and guided support.

This is an interest form, not a commitment.
What Is CPRT?
CPRT uses play, your child’s natural language, to help strengthen the parent-child relationship. In a small, supportive group led by a trained therapist, parents learn and practice skills they can use with their own child.

When connection grows stronger, challenging behavior often becomes easier to understand and respond to.

CPRT Can Help Parents
  • Better understand their child’s feelings
  • Build stronger connection and trust
  • Respond to challenging behavior with confidence
  • Reduce stress and overwhelm
  • Focus on connection, rather than punishment or perfection

What Makes CPRT Different?
  • Focuses on strengthening the parent-child relationship rather than changing the child.
  • Uses play-based skills that parents can continue using in everyday life.
  • Parents practice new skills during one dedicated 30-minute play session each week, making the approach realistic and manageable.
  • Provides a small, supportive, and nonjudgmental group where caregivers learn together.
  • Includes coaching, encouragement, and feedback throughout the program.
  • Helps parents build confidence while creating stronger, more connected relationships with their child.

Who Is This For?
This group may be a good fit if you are:
  • Parenting a young child with big emotions
  • Feeling stressed, disconnected, or unsure what to try next
  • Wanting to strengthen your relationship with your child
  • Looking for support that feels caring and respectful

Your Interest Helps Make the Program Possible
If you are interested and available to participate in the full September–November series, please complete the interest form.
Filling out the form does not commit you to participating. It helps Healthy Archuleta confirm that enough families are available before finalizing the program. Planning CPRT involves coordinating trained facilitators, child care, dinner, space, and English- and Spanish-language access. Your early response helps us plan a program that works for local families.
