In mid-March 2020, with the Colorado Stay-at-home order, the Coalition was tasked with creating an emergency feeding plan for Archuleta County in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and to coordinate emergency food relief in the community. Since then,
- The Coalition has rallied the community to support the newly formed food pantry network, so they could source food and access financial resources to ensure the people of Archuleta County have access to food during this time.
- The growers group has encouraged everyone to plant an extra row of food, starting with the owners of the grow domes and then the backyard gardeners as the season progressed.
- Small private and public growers are sharing their locally grown produce with the food pantry network that distributes them among their clients.
- Grants and donations have supported the purchase of bulk, dry, and canned foods, and distribution of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) fresh produce shares and meat from local farmers/producers among food pantry clients.
