Our Work
Connecting people, partners, and systems to support community health.
Healthy Archuleta works across food, health, youth, and community systems to strengthen whole-person wellbeing in Archuleta County. Our work is rooted in the belief that systems change happens when community voice, shared learning, and coordinated action come together.
We focus on four interconnected areas where collective effort creates the greatest impact.

🌾 Food Systems & Food Access
At the heart of our work is a community-based food systems approach that supports local food production, equitable access to healthy food, and shared learning.
Healthy Archuleta supports:
  • 🥕 Food Pantry Network & Food Distribution Center — connecting seven pantries across the county and coordinating fresh food distribution.
  • 🌱 Growers & Producers Forum — bringing together growers to increase local production and connect surplus food to neighbors.
  • 🌿 Garden Education & Backyard Production — community gardens and support for backyard growers to share food locally.
  • 📣 Public food system awareness — campaigns and events that help neighbors understand where food comes from and how systems work.

❤️ Health & Well-Being
Healthy Archuleta strengthens pathways to physical, mental, and behavioral health by supporting partnership, coordination, and community literacy.
Our health-focused initiatives include:
  • 🩺 Health Equity Collaboration — working with local providers and partners to increase access to primary and preventive healthcare.
  • 🌎 Health Fair & Expo — community event that connects neighbors with services and information.
  • 🧠 Community Health Promotion — education on nutrition, wellness, and culturally relevant approaches to health.
  • 🧑‍⚕️ Workforce Development & Navigation Support — helping people find, use, and understand health resources in ways that work for them.

🌱 Youth & Families
Young people and families are essential partners in building a resilient community.
Healthy Archuleta supports:
  • 👩‍🎓 Youth CLLC & Leadership — youth-led conversations about nutrition, health equity, and community priorities.
  • 📚 Internship & Skill-Building Programs — opportunities for youth to learn and contribute to local food, health, and systems work.
  • 🏫 School Partnerships — learning programs in local schools that connect students with food system and wellness education.
  • 🤝 Family & Caregiver Engagement — supports that strengthen family voice in community health and access.

🤝 Community Collaboration
Healthy Archuleta facilitates shared space and collective leadership so that neighbors and partners can learn, connect, and lead together.
We support:
  • 🔄 Community Learning & Leadership Circles (CLLCs) — spaces for neighbors to meet, plan, and act together.
  • 🌎 CLAC en Español — Spanish-language community group supporting health and well-being for Spanish-speaking residents in Archuleta County.
  • 🤲 Coalition & Partner Networks — structured networks of agencies, providers, growers, and volunteers working toward shared goals.
  • 📆 Collaborative Events & Forums — gatherings like the Food Summit and Growers & Producers Forum where community shapes the next chapter of work.

📊 Why It Matters
Our community doesn’t just need programs, it needs systems that work for everyone. Through intentional learning, shared leadership, and community-led engagement, Healthy Archuleta helps:
  • Expand access to nutritious, culturally relevant food
  • Increase connections across health and social systems
  • Build youth pathways into community leadership
  • Strengthen local capacity for long-term wellbeing
Together, we are shaping a county where every person can belong, contribute, and thrive.
