The Coalition thanks all the individuals and organizations that submitted proposals, all those who came out to vote, and the community members who served on the participatory budgeting steering committee. The Coalition also recognizes and appreciates Educe, which facilitated the Participatory Budgeting (PB) Process in Archuleta County.
The PB Steering Committee met prior to the PB process to decide on a range of details guiding the process including eligibility, timeline, and funding. The Committee wanted to ensure that as much of the $20,000 available for proposals was dispersed through the process.
The total cost of the top 5 proposals was $17,580. This left $2,420 to award another proposal. The next affordable proposal with the highest votes was the Heritage Cooking Class, which will cost $2,000.
The Coalition is committed to working with all the proposal developers. Progress on the implementation of these projects and the ones that were not selected will be shared with the community in the next few weeks.
